Harvey Adams Jr. Scholarship Fund

INVESTING IN THE BLACK COMMUNITIES OF TOMORROW

Established in 2024 by Harvey Adams to offer financial assistance to Carnegie Mellon University students who are aiming to pursue a career as community agents dedicated to creating social impact. By providing this scholarship, we aim to empower and enable these future leaders to develop the skills and knowledge necessary to drive positive change and contribute to the betterment of their communities.

The scholarship is intended to support individuals who are committed to pursuing a career focused on serving underserved communities. This financial aid is designed for those who aim to make a meaningful impact through their work, dedicating their efforts to addressing the needs of marginalized and underrepresented groups.

To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must:

  • Attend Carnegie Mellon University
  • Demonstrate financial need
  • Reside in the Greater Pittsburgh Area
  • Provide a letter of recommendation from a community organization
  • Provide a 500-750 word essay
  • Pursue a career dedicated to supporting underserved communities
  • Demonstrate current active community engagement
  • African American students are strongly encouraged to apply
